The Power of Listening

I love Elizabeth Day.

I listen to her podcast “How to Fail” regularly and had the joy of attending one of her live talk shows recently - she is eloquent, bright and real.

I started my day this morning with a run, listening to her speak about the power of human connection and the impact of forging a point of common ground.

I am paraphrasing but a part that really resonated for me was the following:-

“The greatest respect you can pay to someone is to really listen to what they have to say. And allow and create space for them to do so.

Each individual is unique and important and actually - all the bad things; the fear we feel, the ignorance, the discrimination, the prejudice that flourishes, comes about when we don’t understand each other and when we don’t know each other.

A deep conversation is about attacking that notion.”

I thought I would share as so often, busy life and work detracts from taking time to really connect with others, which is so important.

This is also why I love coaching. The creation of an environment that fosters time, space, thought and reflection. A process that empowers you and enhances how you interact with others.

If this resonated with you and you would like to chat further, then book in for a free 30 minute intro call with me below:-
